TIC-80 Home Console
TBG's TIC-80 console is a physical persistent home-console system.
The console chassis, inserted cartridge, game title, and save state are
deliberately separate things.
Physical cartridge identity
Every spawned TIC-80 cartridge is its own persistent Object.
Two cartridges containing the same game title are still two different
physical copies.
They may be carried, dropped, traded, stolen, inserted, and ejected as
ordinary physical items.
Playing
The preferred webclient flow is:
open GAMES
select a reachable TIC-80 console
INSERT a cartridge
PLAY
A reachable console also provides the text commands:
insert <cartridge> in <console>
play <console>
eject <cartridge> from <console>
Example:
insert Neon Bayou Run cartridge in TIC-80 home console
play TIC-80 home console
eject Neon Bayou Run cartridge from TIC-80 home console
Ejecting a cartridge ends the active session bound to that cartridge.
Saving
TIC-80 persistent memory belongs to the exact physical cartridge.
It does not belong to:
your browser
your Account
your Character
the console chassis
the shared game title
This means two copies of the same title may carry different save state.
Dropping or transferring a cartridge does not turn its save into an
account-wide save. Whoever later possesses and plays that same physical
cartridge is using that cartridge's persistent state.
The browser executes and displays the game, but the server remains
authoritative for cartridge identity and persistent memory.
Current production title
Neon Bayou Run is the first production TBG TIC-80 title.
Its persistent best score is stored through TIC-80 PMEM on the exact
cartridge being played.
