Quad-16 Home Console
Quad-16 is TBG's richer browser-based home game platform.
The console and cartridges are persistent physical world Objects. The browser
runtime is presentation and simulation, not the authority for which physical
console or cartridge you are using.
Playing
The normal webclient flow is:
open GAMES
select a reachable Quad-16 console
INSERT a compatible cartridge
PLAY
The same physical world state is available through text commands:
insert <cartridge> in <console>
play <console>
eject <cartridge> from <console>
Quad-16 home consoles and loose cartridges may be used from the
immediate Room. The text insert command requires the cartridge to be carried;
the GAMES interface can insert a compatible cartridge directly from the Room.
Saving
Quad-16 persistent game state belongs to the exact physical cartridge.
It does not belong to:
your browser
browser IndexedDB
your Account
your Character
the console chassis
the shared game title
Two physical copies of the same title may therefore carry different saved
state. Trading, losing, stealing, or giving away a cartridge also transfers
access to the save carried by that exact cartridge.
The browser runs the game, but persistent save writes are sent back through
the server and checked against the exact physical console, inserted cartridge,
and cartridge save revision.
Current development status
The physical console/cartridge layer, browser runtime launch, and persistent
physical-cartridge save bridge are present.
Shared same-room multiplayer remains a separate implementation gate.
