Pocket-4 Handheld / WASM-4
The Pocket-4 is TBG's portable physical WASM-4 game system.
The handheld and every microcart are persistent physical world Objects.
Carrying requirement
The Pocket-4 must remain directly in your Character's inventory while you
play it.
Dropping it, giving it to another Character, storing it in another Object,
or otherwise removing it from your direct possession ends your authority to
continue using that handheld session.
Unlike a home console, Pocket-4 has its own integrated display and does not
need a television.
Physical microcarts
Pocket-4 uses physical WASM-4 microcarts.
Every spawned copy is its own persistent Object.
Two copies containing the same game may therefore carry different save
state.
The save follows the exact physical microcart.
Trading, giving, losing, or stealing that microcart also transfers access to
the save carried by that exact copy.
Playing
The preferred webclient flow is:
carry a Pocket-4
open GAMES
INSERT a compatible microcart
PLAY
The ordinary physical-device text commands use the same world state:
insert <microcart> in <handheld>
play <handheld>
eject <microcart> from <handheld>
Example:
insert game microcart in Pocket-4 handheld
play Pocket-4 handheld
Ejecting the microcart ends the active game session tied to that physical
cart.
Saving
WASM-4 provides up to 1024 bytes of cartridge disk storage.
In TBG those bytes belong to the exact physical microcart Object.
Persistent save state does not belong to:
your browser
browser local storage
your Account
your Character
the Pocket-4 chassis
the shared immutable game title
The browser executes and displays the WASM-4 game, but the server remains
authoritative for physical cartridge identity and persistent disk state.
